10gen provides free training courses for MongoDB

MongoDB is an open source document oriented database, developed with C++, it is to solve some real problems existing among development communities. In October 2007, MongoDB development began at 10gen, in 2009, MongoDB was open sourced as a standalone product. 10gen provides technical support, training and consultancy service.

According to 10gen education, 10gen will provide some training courses for MongoDB starting from 22 October, 2012. Now it's available for registration.

Free Online MongoDB Training by 10gen

There are two courses currently :M101 and M102, target to developers abd DBAs. The courses will end on 10 December 2012, 10 hours per week.

MongoDB for Developers and DBAs

M101

This course will go over basic installation, JSON, schema design, querying, insertion of data, indexing and working with language drivers. In the course, you will build a blogging platform, backed by MongoDB.

To take this course, you should have a working knowledge of at least one mainstream programming language supported by Mongo.

This course is taught by Richard Kreuter, Lead Consulting Engineer at 10gen

M102

This course begins by assuming you have no experience with MongoDB, taking you through the basics of installation. Then you will learn about JSON and Mongo's extensive query capabilities through the Mongo shell. We will cover importing, and exporting data into Mongo. After that, we cover replication and fault tolerance. Then it is on to scaling out with MongoDB, including indexing, performance tuning, monitoring, and sharding. Finally, we cover backups and recovery. No prior experience with MongoDB is assumed for this course but a knowledge of administration of other database will be helpful.

To take this course, you should have a working knowledge of at least one mainstream programming language supported by Mongo.

This course is taught by Dwight Merriman, one of the original author of MongoDB and also founder of 10gen.
