In the eyes of the vast majority of application developers, iPad is the terminal equipment for running code, rather than the tool used to write code. However, there are some applications developers finding iPad's potential to develop a wide variety of programming applications with some applications, such as Diet Coda, Koder, Gusto and so on. The family of applications for writing applications has added a new member -  Kodiak PHP. This application runs on iPad, it can be used to develop PHP applications and also can be used to run PHP codes offline.

Kodiak PHP is an Integrated Development Environment (IDE), it is not only an application, but also a full-featured software development tools. Codes written with Kodiak PHP can be run within Kodiak PHP without connecting to network(Kodiak claims it's the only iPad application which can run PHP codes offline), so that developers do not have to switch between Kodiak and other applications to test their scripts.

Kodiak PHP also includes some functions developers are familiar with, such as tabs are located in the center of the interface - it can easily help users to access more than one development window, it also has syntax highlighting function. More interesting is its Navigation Key function - Users can double-click the Navigation Key, then slide to select text on iPad, this feature allows users to achieve more accurate text selection with minimal movement(highly recommended Apple makes this function a built-in feature of iOS).

Although it is almost impossible for application developers to use only one iPad to develop an fully functional application from scratch, it shows the maturity of the platform because of more and more fully functional iOS programming applications.

The price of Kodiak PHP is $9.99 on App Store.
