The dystopia from “Blade Runner 2049” to come to mobile phones

Next Games, a Finnish mobile game developer and publisher is working along with Alcon Entertainment for the development of "Blade Runner 2049".

The Next Games CEO, Teemu Huuhtanen disclosed the news this month in Electronics Entertainment Expo 2017. Besides displaying only a screenshot, the companies are yet to uncover the details regarding the release date and the title of the game.

Alcon Entertainment is busy in the production of movie "Blade Runner 2049", a sequel to the 1982's dystopian science fiction film "Blade Runner" with Warner Bros and is taking the efforts of domestic distribution, while Sony will take international territories. The movie stars Ryan Gosling and Harrison Ford, the protagonist 'Rick Deckard' from the first movie. The movie is set to launch on October 6th. Teemu Huuhtanen stated,

"We are thrilled to work on Blade Runner, a true pop culture icon. We are determined to deliver on Blade Runner's unique themes and vision of the future. Both we and Alcon Entertainment value mobile games that are authentic and true to the original property. Next Games is popularly known for developing the game "The Walking Dead: No Man's Land", an adaption of the hit AMC TV series. It has registered over 16 million downloads and the game closely follows the same dynamics and events as seen in the TV show.

The co-CEOs and co-founders of Alcon Entertainment, Andrew Kosove and Broderick Johnson stated, "We are excited to be working with Next Games on this exciting new endeavor. The world of Blade Runner is uniquely rich ground for storytelling across a variety of platforms, games included."

The sequel will start 30 years after the events of the original movie, which was directed by Ridley Scott depicting a dystopian Los Angeles in which Deckard, an ex-police officer pursues four replicants reported of breakout from an off-world colony. Only this time a new blade runner, LAPD officer K (Gosling) uncovers a long-buried dark secret that has the power to create a fresh wave of havoc in the society. K's constant pursuit for answers leads him to hunt for Deckard, a former LAPD blade runner who is reported to have been missing for 30 years.

The franchise has just started with characters promising some exceptional performance taking a great plot to its best. Undoubtedly, the game developed will reflect the same high-octane action and story all for the delight of gaming lovers.
