Microsoft's Windows 8 RTM version now is available for download to MSDN and TechNet subscribers. This RTM version will be the same as the final Windows 8 release version. Windows 8 may be released on 26th October.

Microsoft Software Assurance users will be able to get RTM version of the new system on 16th August. Volume License customers without Software Assurance will be able to purchase Windows 8 through Microsoft Volume License Resellers starting from 1st September.. Although this version is available for developers and IT professionals, ordinary consumers have to wait until 26th October.

Microsoft opened Windows store for Windows 8 to more developers. Microsoft hopes developers can bring more new applications in coming weeks and months. Therefore, on 26th October, we should also be able to see more Windows 8 style applications to be published on Windows application store.

If you are a MSDN subscriber, you can obtain Windows 8 RTM from MSDN subscriptions. If you are not a MSDN subscriber, you can download it from the TechNet subscriptions. But this version will expire and can not be upgraded.

If you are not a MSDN subscriber and not a TechNet subscriber, don't worry, because Microsoft has released a trial version. The trial version of Windows 8 Enterprise has 90 days trial time.
