Sundar Pichai, Senior Vice President of Google in charge of Chrome & Apps, stated at last week’s D10 conference that Google Drive would release the complete offline version of cloud storage service shortly after this year’s Google I/O conference.
Google had previously taken a variety of measures to enable the application’s usage under all cases. Pichai said : "offline Google Drive is coming in five weeks." Google will holds its I/O developer conference during June 27 and 29. Therefore offline version of Google Drive is expected to be launched following this conference.
Currently, Google Drive only supports viewing offline files, but not offline editing. This means that Chrome OS and other system users can only edit documents through Google Drive in the presence of network. Google had also stated earlier more offline capabilities would be developed in Chrome OS.
